Disco Fever

You have to admit that every woman needs a little bling in her life and I am not just talking about the kind that dresses up the fourth finger.  Sequins are back in a big way.  You can find these adornments on tops, skirts, dresses, and handbags.  This year sequins are not just for the holidays but they are an integral part of fall fashion.  I suggest keeping your sequin looks classy and not trashy by pairing with simpler separates (i.e. basic tops, skinny denim, etc).  I have seen a lot of high quality sequin pieces on the market and have chosen some of my personal favs to share.  Enjoy!

Fashion Week Recap

Since today officially marks the end of NY Fashion Week, it is only appropriate that I devote this week's post to dissecting the runway.  First and foremost, people always want to know what colors will be big for the season.  I am slightly disappointed to report that the big colors for spring are neutrals.   I guess the designers felt like they spoiled us for fall with jewel tones, so they are going back to nature for spring.  Think shades of white, beige, ivory, oatmeal, pale pink and khaki.  The upside to colors like these is that they are more timeless than bright hues (ex. last summer's neons), so they appeal to more budget conscious fashionistas.  With that being said, the runways featured refreshing splashes of orange, poppy, coral, aqua, and pale blue.  But, based on the fashion shows in the past week, I don't expect to see a lot of prints come spring.  Not only were the colors more subdued but many of the styles were more minimalist although luckily not what I would call boring.  The designers are showing gorgeous flowy fabrics with layers to create beautifully simple ladylike elegance.

I tried to pick out some of my favorites for this post and I apologize for the length as I got a little carried away.  I am headed up to NY next week to get a glimpse for myself and will be sure to report back.  Enjoy!

Be Jeweled

It is so nice to see some color on the racks this fall.  Fall fashion often consists solely of earthy shades that are boring and unflattering for many skin tones.  Luckily, this season it is the bright jewel tones that are ubiquitous.  Seek out lush ruby, sapphire, emerald, and amethyst pieces to spice up your otherwise bland fall wardrobe.   I have seen so many gorgeous variations that it has been hard to boil down the options.  Please share your favorites.

The Cross Body Bag

It is so wonderful when fashion trends are actually functional.  Thanks to the entrance of the cross body bag, no longer do you have to struggle with your purse while completing many of life's two handed tasks.  The cross body bag makes for a totally hands free shopping experience while still allowing you to cart around your essentials.  There is a cross body bag made for everyone - literally thousands on the market in every shape, color, size and price you could imagine.  I am having a very difficult time deciding which one will join my closet this fall.  Here are some of my choices, would love to know which one is your favorite!
