The LBD

I am of the belief that a woman can never have too many little black dresses.  The essential LBD is a staple in any closet and a go-to for those stressful evenings where nothing else is looking quite right.  It is no longer faux pas to dress in black for a wedding, so pick out a fabulously stunning black dress and make it your wedding backup.  You can even wear the same one to multiple events and make it look like a completely different dress just by switching up your accessories.  But why limit yourself to just one when there are so many styles to choose from including one-shoulder, strapless, halter, ruffled, ruched, lace etc.  I tend to think the best LBDs are those with little details that make them more special than the basic black shift.  This fall there are tons of black dresses in stores making it tough to narrow down the choices.  I have included a sampling of my favorites for your viewing pleasure.

Black and Tan

Fall fashion is all about the nude, tan and camel shades.  Runways were showing looks entirely composed of these neutral shades.  I personally love the tan trend when these colors are mixed with black.  If neutrals are paired with black, brown or another offsetting color than you dont have to worry about looking "washed out," which is especially tough for those of us with light skin and hair.  If you want to rock the neutral head to toe look then I advise mixing a few shades and textures.

Gunmetal

Just in time for fall, gunmetal is popping up all over the place as an alternative to gold and silver. It can add a little edginess to every outfit without looking grungy. Pair gunmetal with blue if you want to easily achieve the black and blue color trend. It also looks great with the exposed zipper fad! Stick to mixing it with silver or lucite accessories because pairing gunmetal with gold can be hard to pull off. I am so excited to show off some of the gunmetal jewelry that is new at Hadley Emerson and to point out some of my other favorite pieces.

In My Shoes

I have to admit that I have been playing favorites and have neglected shoes in my blog posts lately.  This could be due to the fact that we do not carry shoes at Hadley Emerson and therefore I do not have a constant pulse on the new colors and styles.  This could also be due to the fact that I am famous for dreaming up the perfect shoe and scouring the world for this shoe only to find that it only exists in my imagination.  Although I may never find the exact pair of heels I think I am looking for, I often come across other styles that are worthy of a place in my closet.  As we all know, a girl can never have too many pairs of shoes.  I have been asked for some suggestions on neutral shoes particularly those that can transition into fall.  I have included some classic nude/tan styles as well as a few pairs of my new favorite gray (it's the new black).

Jessica Simpson Astor - $79 (pretty and sophisticated)

Nine West Rocha - $79 (a great, classic shoe that can be worn to work or out on the town)

Eric Michael Vogue Over the Knee Boot - $249.95 (this trend is here for another season so jump on the train and get yourself a pair)

Audrey Brooke Beauty Sandal - $39.95

Via Spiga Armenia Clog - $185.95 (clogs are back in a big way)

Steve Madden Ultamit - $79.95 (I have pair like this that go with every outfit, highly recommend)

Coach Teagan Heel - $198

Steve Madden Blend - $89.95 (sensible and chic)
